Ethnicity and Enfield

Although 2001 Census data shows that Enfield has a minority ethnic population of 39%, population projections carried out by Enfield Council in 2004 indicate that the figure for Non-White British stands at around 50.4%.

According to the 2004 projections, the largest minority ethnic groups in Enfield are Greek Cypriot, White-other, Black Caribbean and Black African respectively (Black African does not include Somali, which here has its own category).

2001 Census figures also show that the largest faith groups in Enfield are 63% Christian, 10% Muslim and 3% Hindu.

A Research Report commissioned by the Enfield Strategic Partnership in 2003 estimated that approximately 0.4% of Enfield’s population consists of refugees and asylum seekers.
